Securing the future of St Nicholas Church for the next generation in Newchurch.

The church is engaged upon an action plan culminating in our 500th Anniversary.  The plan seeks to sharpen our focus on the giving of time, talent and money up to and beyond 2011

Its two objectives are:

1. To ensure that our income exceeds our expenditure.

2. To adapt the church to be able to interact more with the community that it serves.

We want a church:

· Which people will want to come to.

· Where people will want to give freely and generously of their time, talent and money, to the Glory of God.

· Serving and at one with the community.

· Where people make friends

· Where people are nurtured in their faith.

· Where young and old people are valued.

· Where all people can find peace and go away refreshed.

· With a larger community space which others will want to us.

· With an always open glass entrance door—a silent witness to the mystery within.

· A new kitchen to enable the community to eat together more.

And above all we seek to create a passion within our church members for wanting the church to grow.

The balancing of the books is really down to the members of the congregation who will be asked at Easter to review what they are able to give to the Church to enable it to remain open and serve the community for the next 500 years.  But integral to the planned for growth to help balance the books,  is the extension of the Narthex and the provision of a glass entry door for which we have been quoted £114,000.
